Ireland Challenge 2012

And another challenge for next year. I actually wanted to participate in this one this year but never got around to it.

Books and Movies is hosting the 2012 Ireland Challenge

01.01.2012 - 30.11.2012

Possible reads:
Any book written by an Irish author, set in Ireland, or involving Irish history or Irish characters, counts for the challenge – fiction, non-fiction, poetry, audiobooks, children’s books

I'm aiming for the second-lowest comittment level here, because I'm a wuss:

Luck o’ the Irish level: 6 books

This post will serve as reference for the reviews I post for this challenge.

Historical Fiction Challenge 2012

I'm going to kick of this blog properly by officially joining my first challenge ever *drumroll*

Historical Tapestry is hosting the annual Historical Fiction Challenge this year!

01.01.2012 - 31.12.2012
Historical Fiction on any flavour the year 'round!

This last year I read over 15 books I'd loosely describe as historical. In order to challenge myself I should probably aim for the highest level of 20 books. However, my TBR pile is currently overflowing with Fantasy so I'm signing up for the second level:

Undoubtedly Obsessed: 15 books

If you're interested in participating, head over to Historical Tapestry and sign up!

This post will serve as reference for the reviews I post for this challenge.

Book Log 2011

My Book Log comprises books I've read for pleasure that year. I've been keeping it with various success for four year now and I hope to include some more substantial reviews in this blog in 2012.

It looks rather pathetic compared to the lists of other people out there but then I don't spend my every waking minute reading - computer games eat decidedly too much of my free time ;)

The format has been optimised for LJ/DW. I'll have to figure out a better way for Blogger, but for now just a straight copy.

Book Log 2011

Aller Anfang ist schwer

Welcome to my little corner of the Internet! Make yourself at home, tea and cake are over there (I have to warn you - no coffee to be had here!)
A few words to get us going:

After years of (voluntary) abstinence I'd like to try and write a blog again. For now, primary subjects are going to be books and nailpolishes (or make-up in general) with maybe a sprinkling of artwork and a dash of 18th century history. We'll see how that goes.

I thought about writing a bilingual English / German version, but I'm not sure if that makes sense - I'm assuming that the vast majority of potential German readers speak English well enough and I don't like the look of two text blocks with the same content. On the other hand, sometimes I just feel like writing in German. Another thing yet to be decided.

And anyway, I've yet to figure out how to work with Blogger most effectively. I think we shall have to have a few words about HTML, this looks a bit... messy.
The only significant experience I have is with the Livejournal platform and its various clones. But LJ is not where the book and make-up bloggers hang out, more's the pity.

***

Mal schauen was draus wird.
